How do I add a goal?

Call the tracker with a name, anywhere on your site — a signup handler, a form submit, a thank-you page. Nothing to configure here: the name shows up on this panel once the first one arrives.

  • The && matters. The tracker is a deferred, cross-origin script: it can still be loading, or blocked by an extension, and a goal is never worth throwing on a page your visitor is using.
  • Names are lowercase a–z, 0–9 and _, up to 32 characters. Anything else is dropped at ingest rather than stored under a name you would not recognise.
  • pageview, outbound and purchase are taken. Page views, outbound clicks and paid orders each have their own panel, so they are kept out of this one.
  • Counted once per visitor. The rate is visitors who fired it out of all visitors in the range, so calling it twice for the same person changes nothing.
  • A second argument attaches detail — window.peregrine('signup', { plan: 'pro' }). It is stored with the event, capped at 1 KB, and is not charted yet.
